With all the heightened awareness of Covid-19 and the Omicron variant, many companies are opting for virtual parties or no party at all. Today’s headlines have shown tremendous outbreaks within companies following in-person Holiday parties. While it is understandable and relatable to all, many people are anxious to return to some semblance of normalcy while celebrating your employees. However, is that a risk your business can handle with a widespread outbreak?
If your company opts for an in-person celebration, keep it small, informal, and outdoors. The vaccines and boosters have provided a tiny bit of comfort to some when it comes to relaxing standards for in-person gatherings. When considering an in-person gathering, it is important to note if employees are vaccinated, the size of the celebration, if the party can be socially distanced, and if the celebration can be outdoors to minimize exposures. Small companies with few employees may choose this route.
Larger companies my choose a virtual option to protect its employees. With the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and the unknown Omicron variant, can your company afford to have 50 or more employees out on leave? If not, consider a virtual option. To show appreciation to your staff, give them each a gift card specific to their likes. The money spent on the party can easily be spread to employees in the form of gift cards. In lieu of a party, consider giving your employees a day off with pay in order to spend more time with their families. Consider a virtual Secret Santa party. Virtual options are only limited by your imagination.
