About the Opportunity
The R&D Scientist II works independently and as part of a team in a lab environment to complete the development of ELISA, EIA, detection assay kits, and client-driven projects as well as assisting with Quality Control and Manufacturing activities.


The job responsibilities include

  • Research, develop and transfer new assays to manufacturing (ex: immunoassay, activity, detection etc), and characterize other assay products using standard biochemistry and immunology techniques.
  • Perform protein purifications, protein/small molecule extraction, UV/Vis analysis, and preparation of standard reagents.
  • Source, assess, and review vendor critical raw materials to make sure quality and long- term supplies are met.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, up-to-date lab notebooks, SOPs, protocols, and create manufacturing and marketing scientific documentation efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations when performing all scientific tests and experiments as required. (FDA, cGMP, DEA, ICH, OSHA, etc.).
  • Communicate project requirements, recommendations, and status to the AAI team, including Marketing, QA/QC, and Manufacturing sciences.
  • Represent the company at trade shows as needed.
  • Take shared ownership of laboratory instruments for equipment maintenance, calibration, SOPs, ensuring they are updated regularly.
  • Keep R&D inventory of materials stocked and order necessary items in a timely manner for related experiments.

About You
The ideal candidate for this role has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Biotechnology required, Masters's degree Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in a biotech laboratory environment with industry experience in product development.
  • Experience in ELISA, EIA, and Detection assay development projects.
  • Detail-oriented and highly responsible with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-starter to accomplish tasks thoroughly and in a timely manner.
  • Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for international and domestic trips as necessary.
