Assistant Village Manager/Finance Director- Dundee Village, MI

Conveniently located within 15 miles of Monroe and 25 miles from Ann Arbor, Dundee residents enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle while having convenient access to urban amenities.

Even though the Village is compact with 5,186 residents living within 5.2 square miles, the community remains a quaint, quiet, and wonderful place to settle down and raise a family.

In this role, you will:

Assist the Village Manager in directing the day-to-day activities of the Village and provide Human Resource Support; development of policy and procedures; planning, organizing and directing various designated Village activities and events.

Represent the Village Manager in meetings and other events; serve as acting Village Manager in his or her absence.

Monitor and analyze designated Village departments, divisions, programs, activities and functions for progress, financial effectiveness, operational efficiency and capacity to meet public needs; respond to administrative input concerning organizational needs.

Key financial responsibilities include:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and directing the activities of the Finance Department
  • Supervise the accounting procedures/systems in accordance with modern accounting principles and applicable legal requirements and laws

About You

The ideal candidate for this role has the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Public sector experience, preferably a full service municipality
  • Finance and budgeting background including experience with BSA software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent people manager
  • Continuous process improvement mindset
